On 25 January, the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, the University of Oslo, and the Tolerance and Diversity Institute (TDI) held a workshop on freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) for the representatives of Georgian NGOs, religious organizations and media. 

The workshop covered the following topics: international standards on FoRB, permissible and impermissible limitations on freedom of religion or belief, the principle of state-religion separation, the importance of the autonomy of religious organizations, and the relationship between FoRB and security.

Dr. Thiago Alves Pinto from the University of Oxford and Oslo Coalition on Freedom of Religion or Belief and TDI representatives Mariam Gavtadze and Eka Chitanava led the workshop sessions. 

Arijana Aganovic, OSCE/ODIHR’s Associate Officer on Freedom of Religion or Belief, familiarized the participants with OSCE/ODIHR’s commitments on FoRB and security and presented the “Freedom of Religion or Belief and Security: Policy Guidance,”  which has been recently published in Georgian.
